Back After Baby: Day Eighteen - Ouch
Yea, so I've been a dumbass this last week, stretching very little- basically just an extra second or two on the steps to hit the calves, but nothing to really do me any good- and I'm paying for it with what feels like a bit of patella tendonitis in my right knee.
I stepped out of bed this morning and almost fell over in pain as my knee crunched down. I tried to shake it out, but it was yelling at me for neglecting it (and all of its other muscle and tendon friends) all week. I wrapped it with pre-wrap to brace it some, but that didn't do enough to alleviate the pain, so I didn't run today. I'm learning my lesson on this and rather than try to push through this pain with a sense of obligation only to find it strained even worse days later I'm going to listen to my body and let it heal. I don't have the hip, quad or glute strength right now to have even thought my knees could handle the strain from the added activity this week so it kinda serves me right. I'm going back to my original quest to do more strength work rather than just pound out mile after mile. This strain only reiterates the point.
